Bowes & Lyons

Residents at a Bowes and Lyons care home are benefiting from improvements to their home, thanks to Energist Solutions finding a more efficient way to heat the 70-bedroom property. By switching from Electric to biomass, Bowes and Lyons Care Home is saving money on its heating bills, which means it can invest in new facilities elsewhere.

The care home, which is in Bishop Auckland County Durham, now has two biomass boilers, provided and installed Energist Solutions. The home decided to move to a more environmentally-sustainable and cost-effective way of heating the home, by installing Biomass pellet boilers, along with solar panels.

Le Grand


Le Grand wanted a partner to create a turnkey project for the UK’s largest factory-connected solar PV installation. This was to help power their first production Plant situated in County Durham.

Following our appointment, there was a change in the government Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) scheme for large-scale systems – a programme that promoted the uptake of renewable and low-carbon electricity generation technologies which meant we were working to a tight deadline.

This change allowed us to significantly accelerate the project with installation and commissioning being completed in less than four weeks from project approval.

Durham Waste Plant

A Waste Station in Annifield Plain, County Durham, is ensuring consistently warm temperatures for its Staff whilst ensuring reduced energy bills, thanks to an air source heat pump installed by Energist Solutions.

The Morrison Busty Waste was set up by Durham County Council to provide for householders and businesses alike to deposit and recycle rubbish as part of their longer environmental vision for the district.

The Existing premises were inefficient using LPG as their primary fuel for heating. Energist approached Durham Council in partnership with Baxi Remeha with a view to installing a brand new state of the art heat pump FOC, using the Morrison Busty as a trial site.

De Montfort House

De Montfort House case study

The project involved the removal of the old inefficient electric heating system and installation of distribution network, HIU and internal systems serving 272 flats.  The project is the flagship in what is hoped to be rolled out borough-wide as part of the cities heat network.  Energist Solutions were responsible for the technical and financial design and the project management alongside EIS.

The works were carried out by EIS contractors with Energist responsible for ensuring design, quality and performance standards were met.
